This week marks 43 years since the incredible Blizzard of 78, the benchmark by which all storms of our generation are measured.The storm itself started as an extra-tropical low system off the coast of South Carolina, and as it wandered north, it combined with bitterly cold Arctic air nearby. The blizzard maintained a tremendous intensity, churning up very heavy snow and hurricane-force winds for southern New England.Nashua wound up with 21 inches of snow, which was one of the high spots in the state. Areas in Massachusetts and Rhode Island saw more than 30-40 inches of accumulation.
