The total number of persons found infected with the mutant UK strain of COVID-19 reached 109 today, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Till 13 January, the number of people affected by this strain of the coronavirus was 102.

India on Wednesday crossed 100-mark on new and highly infectious Covid-19 strain infections to reach 102, said the Union Health Ministry.
Till January 11, the number of people affected by this strain of the coronavirus was 96.

India to UK flights to resume on Jan 6
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri clarified that flights from India to the UK would resume on January 6. A day before the minister had stated that flights between India and the UK would resume on January 8. He offered more clarification on Saturday and said that flights from India to the UK would start two days prior, on January 6, while flights from the UK to India would start on January 8.

New coronavirus strain detected in India
Fourteen more people in India have been detected with the new coronavirus strain. On Tuesday, the government said that six people who returned from the UK have been detected with coronavirus. So far, India has 20 cases of the new coronavirus strain. Meanwhile, the government has increased scrutiny of passengers from the UK. The mutant coronavirus strain that was first detected in the UK is believed to be 70 per cent more infectious.
