But Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the clashes have not affected the US withdrawal, which is still in its early stages.
Mr Kirby characterised the clashes as “small harassing attacks over the course of the weekend that have not had any significant impact, certainly not on our people or on our resources there .
Centcom said it has so far completed between two and six per cent of the withdrawal process, removing “approximately 60 C-17 loads of material out of Afghanistan,” while turning over “more than 1,300 pieces of equipment to the Defence Logistics Agency for destruction .
President Joe Biden has vowed that the US will complete the withdrawal by September 11, officially ending American involvement in the 20-year conflict – the longest war in US history. There are approximately 3,500 US troops in Afghanistan serving in the Nato forces, which number roughly 10,000. ....

May 4 (UPI) The United States has moved the equivalent of 60 C-17 military transport planeloads of material out of Afghanistan and turned over more 1,300 pieces of equipment to the Defense Logistics Agency for destruction, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.
Since President Joe Bidenannounced plans to withdraw from Afghanistan, Pentagon leaders estimate that U.S. Central Command has completed between 2% and 6% of its retrograde process in the country. ....

US military: Afghanistan withdrawal process 2 to 6 percent complete
The U.S. military has completed about 2 percent to 6 percent of the process of entirely withdrawing from Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) said Tuesday.
Progress on the withdrawal includes moving about 60 C-17 cargo planes worth of material out of Afghanistan, Centcom said in a news release.
In addition, about 1,300 pieces of equipment have been given to the Defense Logistics Agency for destruction, the release said.
The U.S. military also officially gave control of its New Antonik base in southern Helmand province to the Afghan National Army, the release said. ....
