+ March 14, 2021 THE police chief of Calbayog City in Samar was relieved from post effective March 14, 2021 over the incident that killed the mayor and three policemen as well as the attempt of his intelligence officer to get a list of lawyers representing the communists.
Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge, said Lieutenant Colonel Neil Montaño was sacked on the basis of command responsibility.
Both incidents are under investigation.
Montaño will be replaced by Lieutenant Colonel Rodolfo Albotra while Police Major Ruel Burlat will be the new chief of intelligence unit, replacing Lieutenant Fernando Calabria Jr.

The chief of police of Calbayog City and nine other policemen were sacked from their posts over the alleged March 8 encounter that killed Mayor Ronaldo Aquino, and the alleged blunder committed by the local police intelligence chief whose letter to the local court for the names of lawyers representing people linked to communist rebels went viral in the social media.
