Two Connecticut nonprofits have been awarded grants through the Gannett Foundation, including one that is among 16 organizations nationwide to receive a national merit award.
Havenly Treats in New Haven has been awarded $50,000 as part of the Gannett Foundation s National Merit Award program and another $7,500 through the local operating grants program. The Youth Mental Health Project Inc. in Darien also received $5,000 through the operating grants program.
All awards are through the A Community Thrives grantmaking and crowd-funding program from the USA TODAY NETWORK, which includes the Norwich Bulletin, and is part of the Gannett Foundation. A Community Thrives supports nonprofit organizations with projects focused on community building and has helped to contribute more than $12 million since 2017. Any 501(c)3 or municipal program was eligible to apply. The program is part of the USA Today Network and is funded by the Gannett Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Gannett, Inc.
