New Delhi, Dec 29: Jailed PDP leader, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, who won the District Development Council (DDC) polls from Pulwama is alleged to have paid the Hizbul Mujahideen to get the outfit s support ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Para was arrested ahead of the DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the probe relating to suspended DySP Davinder Singh s links to the Hizbul Mujahideen.

While Para in his bail application has denied all links to the outfit, the NIA has learnt that the money was paid to Hizbul Mujahideen operative Naveed Babu through Singh. The money was carried in a tiffin box after being collected at the Srinagar airport where Singh was posted, the NIA also found. ....

SRINAGAR: President of PDP’s youth wing Waheed Ur Rehman Para, who is currently in jail, on Tuesday won from the Pulwama-1 constituency by over one thousand votes. Para was arrested in Delhi by NIA five days after filing nomination papers for the District Development Council (DDC) elections for his alleged links with the Hizbul Mujahideen.
While Para polled 1322 votes, his nearest rival, BJP’s Sajad Ahmad Raina, got 314 votes.
Para was allegedly in close contact with Hizbul’s overground worker, Irrfan Shafi Mir, who was arrested in Kulgam along with suspended J&K DSP Davinder Singh for ferrying two terrorists to Jammu in January this year. According to NIA sources, Parra was part of a conspiracy to provide safe passage to Hizb terrorist Naveed Babu alias Syed Naveed Mustaq, a police deserter. Parra is close to PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and is the 11th accused in the police-terrorist nexus case. ....

The counting of votes for the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday gave a clear lead to the People s Alliance For Gupkar Declaration (PAGD). Of the 280 seats that went to polls for the DDC elections the leads on 258 seats have indicated that the Kashmir-based amalgam of the mainstream parties, the PAGD, has either won or is leading on 107 segments, the BJP leading on 65 segments, the Congress on 22, Apni Party which was launched after the abrogation of Article 370 on 10 and others on 54 segments. While the Gupkar alliance is emerging a clear, there are many positives for the BJP also.Â ....
