February 10, 2021 | Reported By : RK Online Desk The candidates from Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Wednesday managed to secure District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson and Vice Chairperson posts in South Kashmir s Pulwama district.  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bagged chairperson post while National Conference (NC) secured vice chairperson post in Pulwama.  An official of the administration in Pulwama said that PDP candidate for chairman post Syed Bari Andrabi and NC candidate for vice chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Bhand got nine votes each. They said four votes each went in favour of Javid Rahim Bhat an independent candidate for chairman seat and Minha Lateef who won on BJP ticket from Kakapora.

SRINAGAR: In a significant development, six-party amalgam People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (GAPD) bagged the top two posts of two District Development Councils (DDCs), while BJP and an Independent won the posts in one DDC, elections for which were held on Wednesday through voice vote. While GAPD won the chairperson and vice-chairperson posts of Ganderbal in central Kashmir and Pulwama in South Kashmir, BJP and the Independent emerged victorious in Jammu division’s Reasi DDC. GAPD comprises National Conference, People’s Democratic Party, Awami National Conference, CPI-M, CPI and J&K People’s Movement. NC’s Nuzhat Ishfaq was elected chairperson and PDP’s Bilal Ahmad Sheikh vice-chairperson of Ganderbal DDC. According an NC official, Nuzhat and Sheikh secured nine votes each to bag their respective posts. Nuzhat is the wife of former NC MLA from Ganderbal Ishfaq Ahmed.

Fayaz Bukhari SRINAGAR, Feb 10: The Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) candidates were elected chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of District Development Councils (DDCs) in Ganderbal and Pulwama districts today. PDP candidate Syed Bari Andrabi was elected as chairperson of the DDC of Pulwama while Mukhtar Bandh (NC) has been elected as vice chairman. Bari got 9 votes and his rival and Independent candidate Javed Rahim Bhat got 4 votes. NC candidate Bandh who was elected vice-chairperson secured 9 votes and Minha Lateef who won on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from Kakapora secured four votes. The PAGD win was certain as they had majority DDC members in the district with PDP having 7 DDC members, NC 2, BJP 1 and Independents 4.
