No question that on both fronts there were some pretty horrific battles. Yes, sir. Playing into macarthur with the savior complex, i shall return as opposed to week, was there any discussion . Theres a whole army behind us, who are you . I think that goes to the core of douglas macarthur. There was a suggestion, after he said eyes shall return, there was a suggestion by fdr and marshall, wouldnt it be great if we could say we shall return. Thats you sounds a lot more collaborative, but again, thats not macarthurs personality. To his credit, he took it personally that he would go back and do it. It was a personal charge to him. To your point earlier, about operations and things, you have to remember that mcarthurs father in the civil war which is where i begin the the book, because i think its instructive and a lot of people have written about it but its instructive that his father really leads this great charge up Missionary Ridge during the civil war and it may not have been the great

Now, you roosevelt scholars in the room know him as roosevelt chief of staff. His wartime counselor, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, and really a de facto National Security advisor long before that position was set up. And four years ago when it published admirals which you mentioned

You seeing pictures of what appeared to be that last a blast had occurred in central is stumble. Were talking about the tax m area, specifically is thick lough streets, and as our correspondent cinema has just been explaining to us, this is a very busy parts of istanbul. At what would have been and what was a very busy time of the day in tax him on istic la streets sent him also giving us the context that is stumble, which is use of these kinds of attacks. Hadnt seen anything like this for a few years. This is going to bring back some very hard memories, very tough memories for residents of his stumble. I sent him the question ive been wanting to ask you in the recent past.
