Ozark National Scenic Riverways Plans Oct. Managed Deer HuntsOzark Radio News

Van Buren, MO. - Ozark National Scenic Riverways will be conducting two managed deer hunts in October at Big Spring. To ensure public safety, portions of the Big Spring area will be temporarily closed October 7-9 and October 21-23. These hunting opportunities are being extended to two special groups of the nation's population, our youth and our military service members with permanent mobility impairments. The youth hunt will be held October 8 and 9, and the Exceptional Warrior Mobility-Impaired managed hunt will be held October 22 and 23. A total of 10 randomly selected hunters have been chosen for the youth hunt and 12 for the veteran hunt. Hunters for the youth hunt can harvest two antlerless deer with a center-fire rifle while hunters of the Exceptional Warrior Mobility-Impaired hunt can take two antlerless deer, or one antlerless and one antlered deer with a center-fire rifle. National Park Service Wellness Challenge Begins in MO State ParksOzark Radio News

Van Buren, MO. - The National Park Service has issued a Wellness Challenge as a way to reengage communities. Their challenges consist of a set of activities meant divided into three categories: physical, mental, and learning. Each park in Missouri will post 9 different activities, with 3 to be in each category. To get started, participants can pick up a National Park Service Wellness Challenge Guide at any Missouri national park site. When an activity in each category is completed, participants can get their guide stamped by an NPS ranger or download a digital badge to mark their achievement at https://go.nps.gov/NPSWellnessChallenge.
