Fourteen crew members of a ship that travelled from India to the Port of Durban have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Transnet s National Ports Authority has confirmed that the chief engineer of the bulk carrier, Eaubonne, died of a heart attack.
The vessel, which arrived in Durban on Sunday, has a Filipino crew on board and was on a 17-day direct sail from India to Durban.
Officials say upon arrival at the Port of Durban, the crew were all tested.
The authority has confirmed that the vessel is currently in quarantine at the port.
They say the crews contact tracking and tracing are underway. ....

Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize says the emergence of Covid-19 cases at ports of entry are of deep concern to government, adding that the situation is being handled with urgency.

He has confirmed that the Health Department is testing the positive Covid-19 samples of three people who flew in from India to Durban in recent weeks.
In a statement released last night, the department says the travellers flew in on two separate occasions from India, via Doha and through King Shaka International Airport. ....

DURBAN: Transnet has confirmed that 14 people aboard a vessel from India, that has docked at the Durban Port, have tested positive for Covid-19.
A spokesperson from Transnet said the chief engineer of the Eaubonne vessel birthed at the Port of Durban on Sunday, and died of a heart attack.
The Filipino crewed vessel was a 17-day direct sail from India to the Port of Durban and, as a requirement for the next port of call, all crew members from the vessel were tested for Covid-19 and cleared. ....
