Amount stepped up to 419 MT
The Union government on Saturday increased the allocation of oxygen for Tamil Nadu from 220 MT to 419 MT, a day after Chief Minister M.K. Stalin flagged the sharply dwindling stock of liquid oxygen with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A communication from National Health Mission Director Sanjay Roy said the revised allocations were being made based on discussions. ....

Linde India, which is one of the largest producers of oxygen in India, climbed 4.76 per cent to Rs 1,957. In the last three months, the scrip has surged 113 per cent.

National Oxygen was up 2 per cent, hitting the upper circuit. Bhagwati Oxygen and Gagan Gases also rose 5 per cent each, with lakhs of pending buy orders and no seller in sight.

Tamil Nadu’s current daily oxygen manufacturing capacity of 400 metric tonnes, though comfortable, should be augmented amid the surge in COVID-19 cases, according to industry.
The State recently informed the Madras High Court that the current usage of oxygen was to the extent of 250 metric tonnes a day and that it had a storage capacity of 1,167 metric tonnes. ....
