Issued an order to secure all cranes. New restrictions went into effect earlier this month after a crane collapsed in tribeca killing a pedestrian. Cranes are now required to go into safety mode when winds are forecast to hit 20 Miles Per Hour. Thats a manhole cover just exploding in elizabeth. The force propelled the metal cover several feet into the air missing people and cars on elizabeth avenue and 7th street. Firefighters called to the scene this morning as street salt set underground wires on fire. We have a serious potential due to the Manhole Covers that were lifting off. Its looking like flames they come, the flames maybe about maybe 6foot high and they start to smoke. A lot of smoke. Carbon monoxide was also detected forcing the ventilation of nearby basements. Restore power on the block. Now to breaking news. The st. George Ferry Terminal for the Staten Island ferry is shut down right now because of a suspicious package. Nypd is on the scene investigating.
