Saturday and environmentally related, the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center hosts the Mississippi River Plastic Pollution Initiative and Clean Up from 1 to 4 p.m., starting at the center, 1 Confluence Way, East Alton. This is a citizen science project that will show a snapshot of plastic pollution along the river. Learn more at www.mrcti.org/mississippi-river-plastic-pollution . Supplies provided include vests, gloves, litter grabbers, trash bags for volunteers. Make sure phones fully charged to track trash. Masks required. Building closed, but restrooms available.
