The main obstacle is what to do about the border between Northern Ireland and the republic. Earlier today, it seemed the issue of the border had been resolved. But the dup in belfast objected to any suggestion that Northern Ireland could be treated differently to the rest of the uk. Welcome to bbc news. There was no deal agreed in brussels today to move on to the next phase of the brexit talks, despite all the expectation that agreement was on the cards. The Prime Minister is believed to have broken off from talks with the president of the european commission, after an intervention by the Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland, mrs mays parliamentary partners. They were raising concerns about a possible solution to the issue of the border between Northern Ireland and the republic. Up to 80mm of rain is expected to fall when storm jorge arrives, delivering another heavy blow for communities whove already been hit by floods. Why have they flooded us . Why havent they done something about it . Never underestimate the misery flooding can cause when your home is ruined. Im absolutely devastated. Devastated.
