today. the cnn newsroom continues right now. you are in the cnn newsroom. we begin with breaking news. president biden has written an op-ed in the washington post where he rejected calls for a cease fire in gaza. priscilla alvarez is with the president in wilmington. what is the president s message tonight? this covers a few things related to both the israel conflict as well as ukraine. to start, the president does reject those calls for a cease fire. those have been mounting both domestically and abroad and he writes quote, as long as hamas clings to its ideology of destruction, a cease fire is not peace. to hamas members, every cease fire is time they exploit to rebuild their stockpile of rockets, reposition fighters, and restart the killing by attacking innocents again. this is in line with the administration s position, which is that there shouldn t be a cease fire. instead, they have been advocating for pauses in the fighting to get those hostages releas ....
