it s wednesday 21st september. our main story. businesses will learn today how the government will help ease the pain of soaring energy bills this winter. the business secretary, jacob rees mogg, is due to announce more details later this morning, but it s understood businesses could have their bills cut by up to a third. nina is in huddersfield this morning. good morning, nina. what details do you have to tell us about so far? good morning. it has been a long and very painful two weeks for businesses. it has almost been a fortnight since that announcement by the prime minister of household bills capped at £2500, but saying businesses would have to wait. we now understand some of the details. there won t be an average cap on use, but there will be a cap on the price per unit of gas and electricity. it s quite complicated, but we understand how that will translate a savings of around a quarter to a third for businesses like this one in huddersfield. so here they use £40,000 ....

good evening once again, i am stephanie ruhle. we have brand-new information this evening about the january 6th committee accusing former president donald trump of trying to contact a witness during the investigation. nbc news has confirmed reporting that the witness was a member of the white house support staff. at the end of yesterday s hearing liz cheney said that the matter had been referred to the justice department. this afternoon, the committee s chair person was asked about cheney s comments. are we going to hear from this witness? i would doubt it. we re concerned obviously about the witness, and we do not want to put that witness under unnecessary pressure. is there enough evidence that there was an attempt to influence the witness? from my vantage point, it is highly unusual to do that. that s why we, more or less, put that in the hands of the justice department. is this just one missed phone call from the former president? that s all i m aware of ....

that there was an attempt to influence the witness? from my vantage point, it is highly unusual to do that. that s why we more or less, put that in the hands of the justice department. is this just one missed phone call from the former president? that s all i m aware of. as for its future plans, the panel has not ruled out additional hearings later this summer, we will hear more public testimony one week from tomorrow. one committee member says that nest thursday s hearing will focus on what trump was doing when the capital was under attack. specifically about the time period of the 187 minutes within the white house, and what the president was doing. and how he could have played a role in preventing more violence, if he had merely gone to the briefing room and asked people to leave the capitol. it comes as trump ally and former strategist steve bannon is set to go on trial on monday for contempt of congress. he is now ready to cooperate with the january 6th ....

at least 50 hostages women and children will be released over four days, during which a pause in the fighting will be held. the release of every additional ten hostages will result in one additional day in the pause . the deal was approved by israel s cabinet after a lengthy meeting that ran into the early hours. ahead of the meeting, prime minister benjamin netanyahu said the war effort would continue even if a hostage agreement was struck. the deal has been welcomed by president biden, who says it should bring home additional american hostages. in its own statement, hamas, which is considered a terrorist group by many western governments, says the 50 hostages will be released in exchange for 150 palestinian women and children being held in israeli jails. in the past few minutes, qatar, which helped broker the deal, has said the starting time of the pause will be anounced within 2a hours. our senior international correspondent orla guerin has more on the hostage ....
