baby thrown to rescuers below. tonight they re all safe thanks in part to a brave and quick thinking young girl. eyewitness news reporter josh einiger is in sayreville tonight with their amazing escape. it s a long way down from that second floor of this building for these young kids to jump to escape these flames but tonight their family is crediting the first responding police officer with catching them and saving their lives. smoke and towering flames i tried to get up the stairway but it was fully engulfed. reporter: sayreville police officer brian gay knew there would be no time. family members trapped upstairs started to jump. i looked up in the air and she was already jumping. as she was on her way down i caught her. reporter: the fire broke out around 2:00 this afternoon on jacobsen street. gay was the first on scene but might never have made it in time through your mind? that i was going to die. reporter: the 12-year-old lived in the house and ....

there. this is what the radar looks like right now. bright whites and steadier snows west of philly, a few snows starting to get into mercer county, a couple of snow showers over southern ocean county. that whole band of snowfall right there and rain is starting to lift to the north and that s what we are counting on to produce our snowfall during the overnight. to be honest with you, hasn t looked very impressive through the afternoon hours in terms of the snowfall it can produce. if we look at our short-range futurecast this is what it looks like, the snow showers are going to be lifting through central new jersey during the evening hours, so high 78, garden state parkway, we can see slippery spots and some snowy coatings across the area. then during the overnight the area of snow is going to expand into the north and then it s going to peek and start to break up and retreat toward the morning hours. so instead of just being sort of a smooth band of snow, probably pat ....
