Police in Gujarat's Morbi city have registered a case against a businesswoman and at least six others for allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old Dalit man.
The Gujarat HC took Suo moto of the Morbi disaster on Monday and issued letters to officials ordering them to file a report within seven days. "We expect strict action from the state government," HC ordered.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the site of the Morbi suspension bridge collapse that claimed over 130 lives and directed a detailed probe into all aspects of the tragedy even as the Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea seeking judicial inquiry into the mishap.
The victims were given assurances by PM Modi that swift justice would be served, and he also ordered a probe into every element of the disaster in order to hold those accountable.
The Nationalist Congress Party or NCP on Wednesday took a swipe at the Centre and said it must replicate the Morbi Civil Hospital's "overnight makeover plan" across all government hospitals in the country and call it the 'Gujarat Hospital Model'.
