Landlords, property owners and real estate agents poured into Monterey City Hall Tuesday to, in some cases, lay down a hostile protest of an ordinance that if passed would set up a rental registry, a database that would publicly disclose rental prices, addresses and other data.
The Monterey City Council Wednesday unanimously approved moving ahead with one of four tentative designs for a 42-unit, 100% affordable housing project on city land right behind City Hall. The project itself was not approved, rather the council provided direction for city planning staff to move ahead with one option, designated as Site Plan 4.
