Airline passengers to SL to be limited to 75 per flight

Due to the Covid-19 situation all airlines have been informed to limit their passengers to Sri Lanka to 75 per aircraft (including crew members) for a period of two weeks from tomorrow (03) according to Chairman, Civil Aviation Authority.
Meanwhile Srilankan Airlines have provided a list of guidelines for passengers travelling into Sri Lanka (issued on 26th April)

Gorilla Among 200 Endangered Species Threatened By Conflict: Conservationists

Civil unrest and military exercises pose heightened risks to more than 200 threatened species, including elephant populations and the critically-endangered Eastern gorilla, conservationists warned Wednesday.
A report from the International Union for Conservation of Nature examined the close interplay between the environment and armed conflict, warning that human violence and unrest were taking a devastating toll on nature.
The report stressed that sustainable management of natural resources should be seen as a tool to help preserve peace.

COVID cases in the country exceed 1,000 for the second consecutive day

The highest number of COVID cases in the country was reported yesterday (29) with a record of 1,466 cases.
This is the second consecutive day that the number of patients reported in a day has exceeded 1,000.
The highest number of patients were reported from the Colombo District, which was 228.
Meanwhile, when PCR tests were conducted on 14 persons in Divulwewa, Anamaduwa, 12 of them had tested positive for the virus. The persons diagnosed were identified to be relatives and had attended several Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations together.
Random tests which were carried out at the Galenbindunuwewa weekly market have diagnosed several fish traders with the coronavirus. A tense situation arose when the authorities decided to take measures to close the weekly fair. Four persons who obstructed the duties of Public Health Inspectors were also arrested. ....
