More than 200 new COVID cases reported in Lake, Sumter
More than 11,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 209 in Lake and Sumter counties were reported Thursday by the Florida Department of Health.
It was the highest number of confirmed cases in a single day in Florida since July.
Locally, 160 new confirmed cases were reported Thursday in Lake County, while Sumter added 49. Since the DOH began issuing daily updates on the spread and impact of COVID-19 in March, Lake has reported 11,798 cases and officials in Sumter County have reported 3,893 confirmed cases.
Thursday’s one-day rate of positivity was 9.48% in Lake County and 7.64% in Sumter. That represents an increase of 0.70% in Lake and a decrease of 3.06% in Sumter from Wednesday’s positivity rates.
