Workshop on laws related to child domestic workers held

Islamabad : Ministry of Human Rights held an awareness and sensitisation workshop on laws related to ‘Child Domestic Workers’, ‘Child Abuse’ & ‘Transgender Persons’ for Islamabad Police.
Almost 36 police officials from different offices of Islamabad Police participated in the workshop.
Addressing the workshop, the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights, Dr. Akhtar Abbas said that the HR ministry has taken several legislative and institutional measures to ensure the protection of Human Rights in the country.
Last year, Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Act was passed by the parliament and through an amendment child domestic labour was categorised as a hazardous occupation under Schedule 1 of the Employment of Children Act 1991. He reiterated ministry’s commitment to prevent Human Rights violations in the country. ....

Campaign to inspire girls to oppose domestic violence launched
Showcases bond between mothers and daughters, highlights influence of education to empower girls
The Ministry of Human Rights, in collaboration with Lifebuoy Shampoo, launched a campaign titled Tum Mazboot Ho (You are Strong), which is aimed at inspiring women to raise stronger daughters and empowering them to oppose domestic violence.
Launched on International Women s Day, the campaign showcases the strength of bond that mothers share with daughters and highlights the influence of education in empowering girls.
The message, depicted through a short film, is a powerful insight into the mind of a young girl who observes the suffering of her mother and understands that she can rise above such circumstances through education. The film ends with informing the viewers about the Ministry of Human Right s helpline to seek help against domestic abuse. ....
