Fifteen of the richest investors have a combined wealth of more than A$185 billion. Leading the charge is Hong Kong s richest person, the 92-year-old Sir Li Ka-shing (net worth: $A44.82 billion), whose CK Life Sciences company has about $1 billion invested in Australian farmland, from vineyards to grain properties and berry farms. ....

John Hartman wears a pair of crocodile-skin boots he made for himself with the help of the craftsfolk at RM Williams.
They look flash, like the $190 million deal he did on behalf of Andrew and Nicola Forrest to buy the iconic boot and outback clothing maker in October, but looks can be deceiving.
To outsiders, it seemed as if a sentimental billionaire swooped down from the top of a mountain of iron ore money and snatched RM Williams from the clutches of private equity giant TPG Capital.
Hartman’s version is the Forrests and their private company, Tattarang, were more like a crocodile with their eyes just above the water waiting patiently to strike after a long stakeout. ....

Minderoo Foundation Grants Available

Minderoo Foundation has launched a new Artist Fund for independent artists to explore, develop and create new work in Western Australia.
Each year, the foundation will distribute up to six $25,000 grants and up to four artist residencies at either Forrest Hall in Crawley or Minderoo Station in WA’s Pilbara valued at $10,000 each. Mid-career artists across all art forms to apply to develop new works and advance their professional practice.
