Who's on the ballot in Clinton County? | News, Sports, Jobs

LANA MUTHLER lmuthler@lockhaven.com LOCK HAVEN It’s a relatively light primary election ballot in Clinton County with only two county row offices on the ballot and four seats on the Keystone Central School Board open. But there are a few contested races with some names from the past showing their faces in municipalities that may bring out a heavier than expected voter turnout, especially in those regions. The primary election is Tuesday, May 18, and basically is just for registered Republicans and registered Democrats who may vote only on their party’s ballot to move candidates into the November 2 General Election, when the Republicans and Democrats can vote for candidates of any party.

LAURA JAMESON ljameson@lockhaven.com LAURA JAMESON/THE EXPRESS Mill Hall Borough Public Works Director Ryan Kunes cleans up pieces of concrete near a crumbled part of the borough’s pool. Kunes said this is the worst of the damage uncovered when the pool was drained but is fixable. MILL HALL For years Mill Hall Borough has been putting Band-aids on growing problems at its public pool. And this year is no different. Borough employees are now patching up cracks along the walls of the decades-old pool in preparation for the 2021 summer season. But, as in previous seasons, it’s just a temporary fix.

MH hires 13 lifeguards | News, Sports, Jobs

LAURA JAMESON ljameson@lockhaven.com MILL HALL Mill Hall Borough Council is still looking for lifeguards to apply for open positions at its pool. Council hired 13 life guards at its meeting Tuesday night, but needs a minimum of 16 to keep the pool’s operating hours the same. The pool is open noon to 6 p.m. all week during the summer season. Pool Manager Lane Wallace previously told council she would need 16 life guards minimum to maintain the pool’s operating hours. However, she said she’d prefer 20. Councilman John Gugliociello Jr. asked what would happen if the borough can’t find enough life guards for this season.
