Don’t take U.S Post Office stress out on small businesses The pandemic has pushed many more businesses and consumers to online sales but the shipping system those sales rely on has been under major strain. Tens of thousands of packages have piled up inside Philadelphia-area postal service sorting facilities, the result of a staffing shortage and unprecedented demand, as first reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer. Packages sent as early as late-November remain undelivered. Philly’s retailers have a message on that: We see you, we hear you, and we are just as frustrated as you are. “I understand why people are getting irritated, completely,” said Andrew Campbell, manager of the spirits shop Art in the Age. “But once it leaves our shop we don’t really have any power over it. So when the tracking number isn’t updating, or it is saying it is still with us when it’s not, it’s one of those difficult conversations.” ....
And it s unusual because the engine is not at great stress at that point. it s as cruise speed, the plane is at 30,000 feet. it s just simply not a stressful time. usually these things take place when they re ramping up or when they re landing. so it s unusual. the ntsb will go back through the history of this engine and they ll look particularly at fatigue. were any of the fan blades in the engine fatigued? did the last check on the engine miss those fatigue cracks? where was the engine maintained? who did the work? we ll know fairly soon when the last time these engines on this particular plane were examined. we ll know before the end of today. they ll pull all the records down. southwest will give those to the ntsb. as i say, they ll go back to the actual location where the engine was serviced and see who did the work, how is it done, were any steps missed. miles bryan is with us, our ....
Pilots for being kwacalm in the middle of all this. joining us as well on beeper, miles. miles, now that you heard jason carroll and you heard christopher johnson about what happened here, by one account, and often we get additional information, an injury on board and possibly some breach from shrapnel. is that how you re taking it so far? that could be the supposition here. you have what would cause the injury. i suppose doing a rapid descent, if the seat belt wasn t on, there could have been injury from that. this is an uncontained engine failure. shrapnel does indeed spin out at a very high rate of speed when this happens. that can cause injuries. there was a delta flight in the mid- 90s, similar situation. that was actually on the ground ....
By for me if you can. i want to bring jason carolyn to the conversation. he s in new york. jason, at least one passenger perhaps injured? that s correct, miles. according to what we learned, this was southwest flight 1380. it left this morning from new york city initialliey headed to dallas. when it was midway through the flight, something happened with one of the left engines. this according to a passenger who was on board that flight. he says once on board, something from the engine injured ended up injuring a passenger who was on board. we have calls out to emergency responders there on the ground, including fire, the faa, airport as well. again, this was a southwest flight 1380, a 737 from new york city headed to dallas. ....
