FSU Opens Season Hosting Three Weekend Matches

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team opens its 2023 season this weekend hosting three matches at home. FSU’s season opener is Friday at 3 p.m. against FGCU, and then the Seminoles host Mercer and FAMU in a Sunday doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. Florida State is led by junior Anna Arkadianou, who is 52nd in the preseason individual rankings. The Athens, Greece, native won nine singles matches and three doubles contests during the fall season, including undefeated singles runs at The Fall Tournament at Alabama and the UNF Invitational. Sophomore Olympe Lancelot earned a team-best 10 singles victories during the fall while adding six wins in doubles. Redshirt sophomore Alice Amendola posted an 8-1 mark in singles play and posted five doubles victories in the fall tournament season. W&M Athletics weekend roundup: Department expands student attendance at events

The William & Mary Athletics Department announced plans for expanded attendance for students at athletics events. (WYDaily/ Courtesy of W&M) The William & Mary Athletics Department announced plans on Feb. 26 for expanded attendance for students at athletics events within selected venues in response to Gov. Ralph Northam’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The revised Executive Order 72 allows limited spectators at outdoor venues the total number of which cannot exceed the lesser of 1,000 spectators or 30% capacity. Students are expected to gather safely within all applicable social distance protocols. “We’re very excited to be able to safely welcome students this spring to cheer on their classmates,” said W&M Interim Director of Athletics Jeremy Martin. “We continue to look forward to the day when we can welcome back our entire community to support the Tribe in person.”
