MOSES LAKE – The Mavericks notched another two wins on Monday afternoon, improving to 9-1 through the team’s first 10 games after a sweep of Wenatchee.
Monday’s 15-5 and 15-0 wins over the Panthers were the eighth and ninth-straight wins for the Mavs, whose lone loss was in the season-opener against University on Sept. 9.
EAST WENATCHEE – Despite a 5-3 loss to Eastmont in the Columbia Basin Big-Nine district title game on Saturday, the Moses Lake Mavericks rallied with a 9-8 extra-innings win over West Valley (Yakima) later in the day to move on to the 4A state tournament.
“We’re super excited to have qualified for the tournament,” Moses Lake Head Coach Mike Hofheins said. “We feel like we underachieved last year, felt like we should have been there last year and didn’t make that happen. For us to make it happen this year was one of our goals that we have checked off.”
MOSES LAKE – The final score of Wednesday’s fastpitch softball matchup between Moses Lake and Richland doesn’t tell the full story of the game, as the Mavs nearly pulled off a come-from-behind victory after being down 11-0 at the bottom of the third inning.
Richland defeated the Mavs 11-9, remaining undefeated on the year. Moses Lake fell to 8-2.
EAST WENATCHEE – The final inning in Saturday’s fastpitch contest between Moses Lake and Othello saw two lead changes, including the walk-off hit by Maverick senior Ali Stanley that gave her team an 8-7 win over the Huskies.
