Joseph Mikal Bales, 27, assaulted officer Jeremy Saylor and Mason Fire Chief Bryan Brumagen at about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mason Fire Department on Mason Montgomery Road, according to the report. City spokesperson Jennifer Heft confirmed Bales is a Mason firefighter/EMT and that he has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending investigation.
