Mackay Festival of Arts. After being forced into radio silence last year, the MECC s 2021 calendar is bursting with awesome acts to keep us entertained. MECC manager Andrew Bobeldyk said he was terribly excited about the line-up at the MECC this year after COVID ruined the 2020 calendar. I m glad borders have been reopening, he said. We re hopeful things will continue to stay open while they work through the pandemic. The team is excited to be back at full swing again. And we re excited to use the facilities we upgraded when we didn t have a lot on. We re really rapt the MECC is back and doing our best to secure the best entertainment possible. ....

India Brown is back in a new Worzel Gummidge episode for 2020, but where have we seen the actress before? In 2019, Worzel Gummidge was reborn and many already had fond memories with the character. British author Barbara Euphan Todd introduced many fans to the world of the titular talking scarecrow Worzel Gummidge, and since then he truly lived a life of his own. The character has earned radio adaptations, but the most iconic came in 1979 when Jon Pertwee portrayed the straw-adorned oddity on TV. The Doctor Who actor did a marvellous job, and even when news of the reboot surfaced, audiences were sceptical because they felt Jon’s performance simply couldn’t be topped. ....
Alex Webb He is loving his time with Chichester Festival Youth Theatre – and looking forward to playing a Policeman and Mercury the Dog in their Christmas production this year, a socially-distanced run of Pinocchio on the main-house stage (until January 2). “I am still not quite sure where I want to go, but I know that I just love being in the theatre. There is so much about it that is great, the atmosphere, the people, the kinds of opportunities you get. There is something about the buzz of it I love. “I was in Sleeping Beauty and Crossing Lines (with Chichester Festival Youth Theatre). In Crossing Lines I was playing a German prisoner of war in the cloisters. It was such an amazing show and so different and so much fun to be part of. ....

Olivia, aged 12, who comes from Chichester and attends Bishop Luffa, said: “Rehearsals have been different, but they are still as good as ever. It is just good to have something to come to. We have to have social distancing on and off stage, and we have to wear masks off stage. And we are having to sanitise our hands. But it is just really nice to be doing something with a lot of people.” ....
