News Bulgaria s President extends condolences to royal family over death of Prince Philip published on 4/9/21 6:59 PM Photo: Library Bulgaria s President Rumen Radev has expressed his condolences to Britain s Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family on the death of Prince Philip in an official letter.  The Duke of Edinburgh will be remembered as a highly respected and active public figure in Great Britain, the British Commonwealth and the entire world , the letter reads.  Bulgarian youth have participated in the Duke of Edinburgh s Award scheme created by Prince Philip, Rumen Radev reminds in his condolences address. For the past 24 hours, Bulgaria has registered a total of 2,803 new cases of Covid-19 with  16,965 tests performed . Of these, 54 cases are among medical staff. News Bulgarian police seizes 186 gas pistols at border with Turkey in van with French registration published on 4/9/21 6:42 PM Photo: Library 186 gas pistols and more than 7,000 rounds of ammunition were seized by the Bulgarian border police at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, the Haskovo District Prosecutor s Office said. The weapons and ammunition were hidden in a van with French registration, travelling from Turkey through Bulgaria to Western Europe.  A 41-year-old French citizen of Turkish origin was arrested for trying to transport the smuggled shipment. The law provides for such an act from 3 to 10 years in prison and a fine of 10,000 to 50,000 euros.
