Detroit man has appeal denied in Missaukee Co. drug case


LANSING — A 37-year-old Detroit man, serving a prison sentence for a 2017 Missaukee County drug conspiracy conviction, had his motions for leave to appeal and a remand back to trial court denied by the Michigan Supreme Court.
In an order dated April 27, 2021, by the Michigan Supreme Court regarding the Missaukee County case of Brian Keith Posey it stated, On order of the Court, the application for leave to appeal the July 1, 2020 order of the Court of Appeals is considered, and it is DENIED because the defendant has failed to meet the burden of establishing entitlement to relief under MCR 6.508(D). The motion to remand is denied. ....

Lake City man to be resentenced for part of 2019 conviction after appeal


LANSING — A 39-year-old Lake City man, serving a prison sentence for an August 2019 conviction in Missaukee County’s 28th Circuit Court, recently had one part of his sentence vacated by the Michigan Court of Appeals and remanded back to the trial court for resentencing.
Jason Loy Vannortrick was sentenced in September 2019 to between 13 months and four years in prison after he was convicted by a jury of his peers on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two years in prison for felony firearms, 93 days with three days credited for reckless driving, 365 days with three days for five counts of fourth-degree child abuse and 365 days with three days for impersonating a peace officer. ....
