Driver enters no-contest plea in death of Officer Darrian Young

MONROE A Lenawee County woman on Friday entered a no-contest plea to second-degree murder in the death of Monroe County Animal Control Officer Darrian Young in a drunken-driving crash last year.
Michele Anne Dropulich, 47, of Hudson pleaded no contest Friday to the most serious charge against her, Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Michael G. Roehrig announced. She is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 26 by Monroe County Circuit Judge Michael A. Weipert, who is presiding over the case.
The plea agreement includes a sentence agreement for a cap of 17 years on the minimum sentence, a news release said.
“Darrian Young’s family and fiancé have been in regular contact with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office during the case, and they are fully supportive of the plea and sentence agreement,” the release said. ....

MONROE COUNTY, MI – A woman accused of driving drunk and crashing into an on-duty animal control officer who died of her injuries is heading to trial for murder.
Michele Anne Dropulich waived her May 11 preliminary examination before District Judge William Nichols, sending her case to circuit court for trial, court records show.
Dropulich, 48, of Hudson, is charged with one felony count each of second-degree murder, operating while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving causing death.
She’s accused of driving under the influence and speeding through a red light the morning of June 4, 2020, at Raisinville Road and M-50 in Monroe Township where she crashed into a marked Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control vehicle, according to Michigan State Police. ....

A 47-year-old woman was arrested on Friday after police say she caused an accident that killed a Monroe County Animal Control Officer in June.
According to the Michigan State Police, Michele Anne Dropulich from Hudson, was arrested by Michigan State Police troopers on Second Degree Homicide/Murder charges.
Dropulich is accused of running into Monroe County Animal Control Officer Darrian Young’s patrol vehicle at the intersection of M-50 and Raisinville Rd. on June 4, 2020. Young was on duty at the time of the accident. ....
