According to the sheriff s office, Joseph Carrol, 42, has been charged with first-degree murder and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He will be held without bond.Allyson Bennett, 40, was previously charged in the same case.Officials say a Flagler County Grand Jury found sufficient probable cause to believe that Carrol conspired with Bennett to supply a mixture of heroin and fentanyl to Michael Joseph Burnett, who died at the age of 31. �

The State Attorney’s Office sought and was granted on Tuesday, Jan. 19, four indictments from the Flagler County grand jury in homicide cases in Flagler County, helping to bring three lengthy investigations conducted by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Major Case and Special Investigations Units to a conclusion. Every overdose death in Flagler County is now investigated and prosecuted as a homicide. There is no more slap on the wrist for selling drugs that cause overdose deaths. Two indictments were reserved for Derrius Braxton Bauer and Marcus Avery Chamblin, two men accused of killing Deon O’Neal Jenkins outside out of Flagler County gas station in October 2019. Both suspects were arrested on January 7th following a lengthy investigation. That same investigation, according to detectives, included around 2,000 hours of work and spanned parts of Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, and Southern California. 39-year-old Allyson Dawn Bennett is also facing an indictment for murder.
