Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today Jun 9, 2021 | 8:41 AM Seniors Taylor Springs, Jailey Cardenas, and Mia Cevallos were among the 11 SHS softball players recognized on the 26-5A All-District team for the 2021 season. (Seguin) – Seguin softball players Mia Cevallos, Allison Kubena, and Ashlie Aguilar made the All-District 26-5A First Team to lead a group of 11 Matadors who received post-season recognition in a vote by the district’s head coaches. Cevallos, a senior outfielder, hit .317 with a home run, 15 RBIs, and 18 runs scored this spring. Kubena, a junior outfielder, led the Matadors with 19 RBIs and scored 14 times. Aguilar, a sophomore infielder, posted a .403 batting average, a .479 on-base percentage, 21 runs scored, three doubles, and 15 runs driven in. ....

(Austin) – Seguin looks to shake up the 5A bracket of the UIL softball playoffs right out of the gates with a bi-district upset of No. 1 ranked Leander in a best-of-three series on Thursday and Friday. The entire series will be played at Westlake High School in Austin. Game 1 is Thursday at 6 p.m. Game 2 is Friday at 5 p.m., with Game 3 immediately following if necessary. The Matadors went 15-12 with a 10-6 district record to earn the No. 4 playoff seed in District 26-5A during the regular season. This is Seguin’s sixth consecutive playoff berth, and the 12th in 15 full seasons under 16-year head coach John Garcia. ....
Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today Apr 7, 2021 8:42 AM Schultze no-hits Tivy in Seguin’s fourth straight district win, Friday game vs. Buda-Johnson to air on KWED (Kerrville) – Seguin freshman Madyson Schultze pitched a no-hitter to help the Matadors win their fourth consecutive District 26-5A softball game Tuesday night, 3-1 over Tivy in Kerrville. Schultze struck out six Antlers, and the only run she allowed was unearned as the result of a Seguin error. Ashlie Aguilar, Mia Cevallos, and Vanessa Sanchez each drove in a run. Cevallos, Allie Mize, and Allie Kubena each scored once. Mize went 2-4. Layla Salazar doubled. ....
