Good morning, im Marci Gonzalez in for diana perez. Im john muller. We begin with breaking news from indiana. Police in elkhart say a gunman walked into a Martins Grocery store. Two were killed. One an employee, another a customer in her 40s. The suspect was pointing his gun at a second employee. They shot the gunman dead. Now trying to figure out what led to the shooting. Its a huge crime scene. The area where the shootings happened in the store are basically from one end of the store to the next. There were several, several rounds fired in there. Both from police and from the suspect. And police say they dont know if the gunman knew any of his victims. They say he was about 20 years old and lived in the neighborhood. We can tell you three men are now in custody for starting the blaze. We have two reports this morning, beginning with nbcs Miguel Almaguer in the fire zone. Reporter explosive and out of control. The socalled kobe fire sweeping down through tinder dry canyons toward neighborhoods with Million Dollar homes. It is really spreading very, very quickly. Reporter with fire hopscotching through neighborhoods, palm trees turned to blow torches. The days sky, a dark eerie glow as ash rained across the region, closing schools and clogging freeways. Unlike some cities here they put their fire rigs out on the streets on patrol on red flag days they told me they saw two guys trying to cut up a metal fence with sparks flying. That activity they want to stop on a day like this. A rare red flag day brought firefighters out on patrol. The goal to look for conditions that might lead to a fire before one starts. Part of the normal procedure is to do patrols with cars on the hillside stations so. Were doing those, and staffed up with extra personnel. Good morning. Good to be with you. Im annemarie green. A 12yearold boy who allegedly opened fire at a new Mexico Middle School has been transferred to a psychiatric hospital. Charges are expected to be filed today. Police say the seventh grader carried a concealed shotgun into the school in roswell and opened fire yesterday morning. Two students were wounded. One is in satisfactory condition, but the other is in critical condition. Omar villafranca has our report. Reporter the school day had barely begun in roswell, new mexico. Students were gathered in the gym before heading to class when a fellow student entered carrying band instrument case. Police say he opened the case, pulled out a 20gauge shotgun and started shooting. Two students were shot, a boy and a girl, as well as a school staff member. Reporter the shooting lasted about ten seconds. Thats when the math teacher John Masterson approached the gunman. Mr. Masterson began to talk to him to put it down. The young man put the gu
