Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, and women who have complications during pregnancy, such as high blood pressure or gestational diabetes, have a significantly higher risk of heart disease and stroke later in life, according to a new scientific statement from the American Heart Association, published today in Circulation, the Association's flagship peer-reviewed journal.

Emory performs 5,000th TAVR procedure

Emory Heart & Vascular reached a significant historic milestone, performing a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure on its 5,000th patient at the end of last year. Emory s history with the innovative, minimally invasive procedure goes back all the way to 2007, when it became the first site in Georgia (and one of the first in the nation) to perform it.
