One school in New Mexico tried something new to help its students cope.Sign up for our Newsletters South Valley Prep, located in Bernalillo County, used paper and pencils to help students get their emotions out. Gina Mares teaches eighth grade art. She told KOAT that her friend saw an article in the New York Times and thought it would be a great project for her students. She had seen me struggling during this pandemic to teach art online. It was kind of hard. I had to come up with some pretty innovate ideas, Mares said. It was very obvious to us teachers that when they came back to school that a lot of them were struggling.
