COVID-19: 141 new cases as Sask. hits 50,000 people fully vaccinated

More than 50,000 people in Saskatchewan are now fully vaccinated with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as the province reported its lowest seven-day average of new cases in nearly two months.
Another 6,935 doses went into people’s arms on Tuesday, bringing the total number of doses given in the province to 615,459. Of those new doses, 1,333 were second doses, upping the number of fully vaccinated people to 50,341.

The new doses were given in the far north west (84), far north east (79), north west (641), north central (434), north east (290), Saskatoon (1,705), central west (216), central east (398), Regina (1,602), south west (168), south central (625) and south east (500) zones. An extra 193 administered doses are waiting for residence information. ....

Saskatchewan is starting to offer residents their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine as the province’s immunization efforts continue to gain ground.
Immunizers have doled out more than 600,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines since December, the vast majority of them the first of two shots needed for lasting protection from the virus.

On Monday the province began offering the second dose to people 85 and older as well as anyone who received their first jab before Feb. 15. Certain priority populations like solid organ transplant recipients and cancer patients will receive a letter of eligibility allowing them to get a second dose, too. ....
