without power since monday has been rationing oxygen tanks for their 5-month-old baby boy born premature just home from the hospital. they built a make shift heater from a pot on bricks. the family is boiling bottled water because there s no water pressure. this is no longer just an emergency. it s clear that it is a disaster. we ve seen a cascade of effects that have turned what is already a dire situation into something much worse. residents are frustrated. they re angry. they are cold. what they re enduring and continue to endure is heartbreaking. in the town of del rio, the wastewater plant is offline. officials are begging residents, do not flush your toilets. panic buying across the state leaving supermarket shelves bare. the state agriculture commissioner says they re, quote, looking at a food supply chain problem like we have never seen before. nearly 12 million texans facing water service disruptions this morning. look at that. nearly 1/4 of the state is under or
burst pipes, 3 inches of water on the floor. this is a really running tragedy in that state. oh, my gosh. we feel for everyone there. we re going to try to get information that they need, because millions of texans are suffering this morning as the power and the water catastrophe in that state continues. so power crews are making progress restoring electricity. overnight, they made some progress, but still, more than 600,000 customers are without power. there s more rolling outages likely today as the dangerous frigid temperatures continue. so many texas residents are dealing with burrst pipes like jim s sister. you can see one person who posted this on twitter. look at what their house looks like. they re having to sleep in their cars or in warming shelters. nearly 12 million residents are now facing these water disruptions. residents in austin and houston are being told to boil water or use bottled water, but of course bottled water is extremely hard to come by and food s
wrap up their case by warning of the potential for future violence if former president trump is not convicted and barred from ever holding office again. prosecutors argued that the deadly capitol insurrection would not have happened had the mob not been invited and incited by trump. despite their compelling video evidence, most republican senators appear ready to acquit from trump. at one point our producer witnessed 15 empty seats on the gop side during the trial. let s begin with cnn s lauren fox live on capitol hill. reporter: the house managers used two days to make their case to this jury. these 100 senators. we expect trump s team is only going to spend a couple of hours today making their case, and that s because, like you said, many of these minds on capitol hill, they re made up. even though these are supposed to be impartial jurors, we know there are not likely to be 17 republicans ready to convict trump as early as tomorrow. former president donald trump s defens
