The Indian Air Force (IAF) has airlifted at least 96 tonnes of relief material on Saturday using the aerial platforms in continuation with its humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operation in Assam and Meghalaya.
According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the floods and landslides claimed the lives of nine persons, including three children, on Sunday.
The situation is no better in Meghalaya, where at least 18 people have died in the last two days, and Arunachal Pradesh, where roads have been damaged due to landslides and villages are largely flooded.
Thirty-one people have died in floods and landslides in Assam and Meghalaya in the last two days. Some 19 lakh people in 28 Assam districts are affected, while one lakh are in relief camps.
