Cemeteries are actually very valuable historic resources revealing information about historic events, genealogy, religious beliefs, settlement patterns and more. The symbolism on the carved gravestones is also fascinating.
On Saturday, June 3, Presque Isle Historical Society’s Maysville Museum, located at 165 Caribou Road, will open for its seventh summer and will debut two new exhibits including one on Maysville resident and author of “The History of Aroostook” Edward Wiggin.
At the March 1 Presque Isle City Council meeting, the Council issued a proclamation honoring Presque Isle Historical Society’s 60th anniversary in 2023 by declaring April as Presque Isle Historical Society Month.
As part of Presque Isle Historical Society’s 60th anniversary celebration in 2023, it is celebrating National Landline Telephone Day and invites the public to attend. The free celebration will take place on Friday, March 10 at 6 p.m. at the Maysville Museum at 165 Caribou Road.
Presque Isle Historical Society is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023 and local residents will be the ones getting the gifts! In addition to the Society’s already ambitious annual schedule of tours and events, the Society will be offering an additional anniversary event each month of 2023, the majority of which will be free to the public.
