Disaster description The cholera outbreak in Cameroon, officially declared by the Ministry of Health on 15 July 2018, is steadily declining, after peaking in week 29 with 42 cases. In week 32 (week ending 12 August 2018), four new suspected cholera cases were reported, compared to 21 cases reported in week 31 and 40 cases in week 30. Three of the new cases reported during the reporting week came from Central Region and one case from North Region.Insecurity in parts of the country (especially South West Region), where there are reports of frequent kidnappings and attacks by organized group of bandits, may have implications on surveillance and response efforts. Additionally, the presence of large number of refugees (from Central African Republic and Nigeria) living in unsanitary and unhygienic conditions, and with limited access to healthcare services, is an important factor. UNICEF Chad COVID-19 Situation Report No. 9 [Cumulative update including the period 26 November to 31 December 2020] Format Situation Overview and Humanitarian Needs As of 31 December 2020, out of the total of 2,141 confirmed COVID-19 cases registered in Chad (the majority being male aged 25-59 years), 37 are children. Of these 37 children, 5 cases have been confirmed in children under five (4 girls and 1 boy), and 32 cases are children aged between 5 and 14 years (20 girls and 12 boys). During this reporting period, COVID-19 reported cases continued to increase steadily, particularly in the capital of N’Djamena. Chad Flow Monitoring - Individual Surveys Examining the impacts of COVID-19 on travellers across Chad (July - December 2020) Format In order to gain a better understanding of mobility flows and trends through West and Central Africa, IOM implements the Displacement Tracking Matrix’s (DTM) Flow Monitoring (FM) tool at key transit points across the region. In Chad, from July to December 2020, DTM collected data at eight Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs). Among them, three are located in northern Chad (Faya, Zouarké and Ounianga Kébir). Government launches construction of drinking water supply in Kana, Chad Government launches construction of drinking water supply in Kana, Chad Modified date: Tahani Mahamat Hassane, the Chadian Minister of Hydraulics has launched the construction of a new drinking water supply system in Kana, a locality situated in Moundou, Logone Occidental province. The project will be implemented by GTC Company within a span of 10months. The latter will pump water from the water table to store it in a 100 m3 castle before distributing it to the population through 3 km of pipes connected to six standpipes.
