The truck was transporting explosives owned by Madrid-based Maxam Corp to the Chirano gold mine, run by Toronto-based Kinross Gold Corporation, when it collided with a motorbike, caught fire and exploded, levelling a roadside village and injuring at least 100 people.

MYSURU: A tribal student from Hunsur has achieved the distinction of clearing the NET for the first time from the tribal community.
Srujana PV, resident of tribal rehabilitation center, Nagapura is the first student from the tribal community in the state to clear the NET.
Born and brought up in Balekovu haadi in Virajpet taluk of the Kodagu district, she completed her education till PUC at Ummattur. She cleared her M Com from the University of Mysore in 2018-19 with 74% marks. Now she has cleared NET making her eligible to be appointed as the assistant professor. My dream is to pursue a PhD. I am also preparing for competitive exams and want to become an IAS officer, she said.
