LEESBURG Ever wonder where the food in pantries comes from? Or where the monetary donations go?
Second Harvest, the main food distribution facility for more than 550 pantries in Central Florida, is offering a behind-the-scenes virtual tour of their facility and operations for people to see just what goes into providing the community with much-needed assistance.
“Our ‘Food For Thought’ tours are a special time for the community to see what we’re doing here at Second Harvest,” representative Maureen Mikel said. “This year, we are offering that same experience virtually. Many people don’t realize the work that goes into our distribution center. We are 100,000 square feet so think of us like a Sam’s Club warehouse. It’s massive and operations have to keep going to fulfill the need.”
