The thread of wildfire is not over everywhere. Good evening. Pg e started checking their equipment today but high winds kept them from reaching many areas. Here are the latest numbers, they have cut power to 345,000 customers in Northern California but by 6 pm they restored power to more than 100,000 of those customers. They hope to have everybodys power back on by tomorrow night. The feeling among many is the bay area dodged a bullet here. Reporter it is a big relief, tonight there was a update, a say in some places the wind gusts were 89 Miles Per Hour and the inspectors did find places where trees blew into power lines and they say they could have sparked fires. Moonlight on monday night was the only bright spot in parts of lafayette. We do not have a generator, we were modestly prepared. Reporter some residents will be spending another night in the dark as pg e tries to bring grades back online safely after the shut off. All day traffic lights were not operating and businesses had
The thing to look at his what is going on on mount st. Helena today. The hour before it reported at 42 Miles Per Hour, virtually half the wind speed tonight compared to last night. It seems like good news to me. It is still windy, the red flag warning is still there but the wind is not as bad. We look at the wind model that tells you everything, after midnight things cool off and you see at 2 am they start to fire up, it is not as aggressive on the central and south bay as it was last night. Mostly in the Northeast Quadrant and by 9 am it is gone. Some really positive news, we are not out of the woods on this thing but if we can get through noon tomorrow with what we are seeing outside now with some of the current wind speeds i am feeling good. Hopefully it will stay that way. When i come back we will look at the forecast that includes less wind and cool overnight lows. Thousands of customers are facing another night of outages as part of the pg e Public Safety power shutoffs. Crews ar
