But the mission goes beyond that, and one Kalamazoo police lieutenant is also serving those in the community who are sleeping outdoors, even through the cold of winter. ”At KDPS, our top priority is to ensure the community is safe,” Capt. The tape that’s going on in your mind is that ‘I might not be alive tomorrow.’ That’s really a hard pill to swallow. And no one can really solve that problem.” ....

In addition to a $5,000 donation secured from Meijer to support the Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo, volunteers also worked with the retailer and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety to bring in an additional $3,000 donation to purchase winter coats and other essentials for local families. “Their $8,000 donation made in two payments of $5,000 and $3,000 was critical to ensuring we were able to continue this program that will help families in need have an enjoyable holiday season after the challenging year 2020 has been,” said KDPS Capt.
