(GREENBAYPHOENIX.COM) – Green Bay’s season came to a heartbreaking end in double overtime on Thursday night at the Kress Center, as the Phoenix fell to No. 10 Purdue Fort Wayne 89-84 in a Horizon League first-round tournament game.
PJ Pipes led the Phoenix with 27 points including 8 points in the two overtime periods despite playing with an ankle injury.
Both team shot well with the Phoenix beginning an impressive 15-of-27 (56%) from the floor while Purdue Fort Wayne followed closely behind at 14-for-31 (45%).
Green Bay led by eight on two separate occasions in the second half. The Mastodons came on strong late and diminished GB’s six-point advantage to one in 43 seconds, making it a one-point game with 8:19 remaining, 55-54. ....
