Henry T Jones, former art education leader at Baltimore County Public Schools and Maryland Institute College of Art, dies

Henry T. Jones, former co-supervisor of art education for Baltimore County Public Schools who later became director of practicum for art educators at the Maryland Institute College of Art, died of complications from myasthenia gravis May 26. The Loch Raven resident was 82.

Maryland Art Education Association (MAEA) Recognizes Five Charles County Art Teachers as Outstanding Educators | Southern Maryland News Net

April 1, 2021 Five Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) art teachers were recently recognized by the Maryland Art Education Association (MAEA) as outstanding educators. The association named three teachers as CCPS Career Art Educators of the Year. They are Kristina Blakeslee of Maurice J. McDonough High School; Christine Chinault of Malcolm Elementary School; and Gayle Kraus of Piccowaxen Middle School. Christin Downie of the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center and Caroline Metcalfe of Indian Head Elementary School were named CCPS Novice Art Educators of the Year by the MAEA. Blakeslee has been at McDonough for 10 years where she teaches freshmen through seniors in Art 1, Painting 1 and 2, Ceramics 1 and 2, sculpture, and advanced placement art and design. UPDATE 4/6/2021: A spokesperson for the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections confirmed  that the driver, Tanesha Renea Williams, 25, and Diamond Shany Johnson, 28, both of Waldorf. are Prince George’s County Correctional Officers and were off-duty at the time of the incident. UPDATE 4/6/2021: Charles County Sheriff’s patrol officers have identified and arrested.
