HOMEWOOD The search continues for the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run on Lakeshore Parkway in Homewood.
The incident occurred on Monday night at around 6:35 p.m. when a Vestavia Hills police officer conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 65 northbound near Alford Avenue. During the stop, the suspect, 28-year-old Pelham man Jordan Markice Ricks, fled the scene and proceeded north on the interstate. Ricks later took the Lakeshore exit and crashed into oncoming traffic, killing 42-year-old Homewood woman Robyn Nattel Herring. Ricks fled on foot and remains at large.
Ricks faces charges for murder and leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities continue searching for the Pelham man and ask anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) A man sought in a fatal wreck that began with a police chase near Birmingham was arrested Thursday after police found him at an apartment in Tuscaloosa, authorities said.
Jordan Markice Ricks, 28, initially refused to come outside but eventually surrendered after about 30 minutes, according to a statement from the Tuscaloosa Police Department. A U.S. Marshals task force had tracked him to the complex, police said.
Ricks was taken to Homewood, where he will be charged with murder and leaving the scene of an accident in a crash that killed Robyn Naftel Herring, 42, on Monday night, according to the statement.

TUSCALOOSA According to Tuscaloosa police, the man suspected of causing a fatal crash in during a Vestavia Hills police pursuit in Homewood has been taken into custody in Tuscaloosa.
Members of the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Special Response Team safely took Jordan Markice Ricks, 28, into custody at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex just after 8 a.m. on Thursday.
Ricks will be transported to Homewood to face charges of murder and leaving the scene of an accident in the traffic death of Robyn Naftel Herring, 42, of Homewood.
Herring, a UAB nurse practitioner and mother of two daughters, was killed when Ricks crashed into her car while fleeing Vestavia Hills Police Monday night.

HOMEWOOD – Homewood police detectives on Tuesday obtained arrest warrants in connection to a fatal car accident that left one woman dead on Monday night in Homewood.
According to a press release from the Homewood Police Department, 28-year-old Jordan Markice Ricks is wanted for Murder ($250,000 bond) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident ($15,000 bond). Ricks remains at large after running from police, crashing into a vehicle on Lakeshore Parkway and fleeing the scene on foot Monday evening.
