St. Lawrence County schools, BOCES adapting pandemic plans to latest requirements

St. Lawrence County schools are fine-tuning their pandemic plans that are now required by the state.
On Sept. 7, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation requiring school districts and other public entities to incorporate a Pandemic Operations Plan into district safety plans.
“This is meant to prepare districts or other public employers for a potential future pandemic,” according to St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Director of Communications and Marketing Rebekah Mott.
The bill states specific requirements for the plan to address.
“The SLL BOCES is also required to produce this plan, and a team at BOCES created a draft plan template that was shared with school districts to adapt to their own specific protocols,” Mott said. “The plan includes a listing of essential workers, an explanation of protocols in the event of a positive case of a contagious virus, a ....

BOCES helping Norwood-Norfolk Central with survey of concerns, wants, needs of district

NORWOOD Norwood-Norfolk Central School will use the Thoughtexchange program allowing board members to give anonymous feedback, see the feedback from fellow responders, and rate other people s comments.
The district held its December board meeting Tuesday and heard from BOCES Superintendent Tom Burns and St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Director of Communications and Marketing Rebekah Mott.
NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank said Burns and Mott suggested the program to him as a way to find commonality within the board as they tackle the budget and other issues facing the school.
Burns said that all schools in the region used Thoughexchange to gather information from parents, staff and students as officials planned the reopening process this fall. ....
